This season's vintage-inspired What Goes Around Comes Around Collection (WGACA) is a fusion of the nomadic, yet glamorous gypsy woman and the classic American man. Creative Director Gerard Maione drew inspiration from the imagery in editorials and advertisements from the 1960s and 1970s as well as the music and lifestyle of these decades.
"The late 1960s through 1970s are a constant source of design and lifestyle inspiration for the brand," Maione said. "The aspect that truly captivates me from this period is that it was a revival based off of the beautiful elements of the 1930s and Victorian eras blended into one." This specifically comes to life in the form of an intricately beaded jacket, a lace dress and skirt, and various prints throughout the collection.
This season the women's line tells two stories: the first embodies a juxtaposition of Nordic meets Nomad with rich fabrics and soft earth tones, and the second is a Gypsy-Jetsetter mood with warm jewel tones and opulent prints accentuating a black foundation. The pieces present a rich color palette with striking hues of smoke blue, plum, cranberry, rose and gold. The collection features silk beaded dresses, a chenille thread embroidered top and real and faux fur jackets. Standout designs include a wool cape jacket, a leather vest with a detachable fur collar, a classic soft washed lambskin motorcycle jacket and luxurious pieces in Mongolian lamb fur.
The men's collection pays homage to classic Americana, drawing inspiration from military, naval and the great outdoors. Shades of tobacco, army green, indigo and burnt red create an earth tone color palate. The collection consists of vintage-inspired soft lambskin leather jackets, an array of Italian and Japanese fabricated woven shirts and a series of indigo knits. A few of the more notable looks include a zip-front cowichan sweater, a naval-inspired cashmere blend grouping and an aviator shearling jacket with leather trim.
"We continue to offer a unique assortment of items to complement the Collection ranging from vintage Chanel and authentic designer to our extensive Custom Vintage line, thus retailers are able to extract a diverse selection for their businesses," President Seth Weisser said. Highlights in Custom Vintage this season include embellished military pieces and a beautiful array of spider web designs in studs, embroidery and jewels that adorn denim, flannels, knits and berets.
The What Goes Around Comes Around Collection is currently sold at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Fred Segal, Lane Crawford, Isetan, Scoop, and other top specialty stores worldwide.
