This week's Spotify playlist is filled with plethora of smooth and funky soul pop hits from arguably the most important record label in history, Motown. Founded in 1959 by Detroit songwriter Berry Gordy Jr., it was actually Berry's good friend Smokey Robinson who convinced him to try his luck in the music producing industry. Within a few years, they would selling more albums than any other record company of the era. The sheer number of chart-topping musicians defies comprehension. Artists and groups such as The Temptations, Diana Ross, The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and many more found fame thanks to the legendary label. These timeless songs became part of pop culture and what would forever be known as the "Motown Sound". So get your dancing shoes on and groove your way through the weekend with these fabulous tunes.

Here's a video that will cure those NY winter blues. Warm up with Taylor Swift's beau in her new video "I Knew You Were Trouble." Decked out head to toe in WGACA vintage, this devil's angel is the epitome of bad-boy appeal. We hear you Taylor, "How can the devil pull you toward someone who looks so much like an angel?"

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is the fifth studio album from Founding Fathers of Heavy Metal, Black Sabbath. Released in the winter or ’73, SBS earned the band praise from mainstream media and die-hard fans alike, awarding them their fifth platinum record in a row in the U.S. For the album cover, Black Sabbath employed Drew Struzan, best known for his portfolio of movie posters including Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Rambo and Star Wars. Struzan’s artwork appeared on the cover and back-cover of the album, and was replicated on the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath promotional tees (pictured above).

With the help of legendary creative director, Ernie Cefalu, who’s own art has appeared on the albums of Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Jefferson Airplane and The Guess Who, Struzan created a two-part story for SBS’s front and back covers. The front cover depicts a man in bed under attack by human-like demons, who are lorded over by a horned skull bearing the Number of Beast. For the back-cover, Struzan offered a redemption scene with the same man in bed surrounded by prostrating followers with the faint presence of a man’s torso reigning over the scene. The Heaven & Hell imagery on the covers reflected in Sabbath’s music style, which had expanded into more orchestral arrangements with never-been-heard-before string and key sections.

In 1974, Black Sabbath embarked on World Tour in support of their new album, which culminated in Ontario, California for the California Jam Festival where they shared the stage with The Eagles, Deep Purple, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and Earth, Wind & Fire.

Just Kidding, but no.. seriously! What I love most about the Smiths is you can find yourself singing along to some of the most depressing lyrics, but somehow, someway, Morrissey makes it all go away! Come get your original copy at our Los Angeles location 323.933.0250
