Paris-Byzance Black Satin Gripoix 2.55 Reissue Flap 225
- In Stock
From Chanel's Pre-Fall 2011 Paris-Byzance runway collection, this collectible 2.55 Reissue Double Flap bag in the 225 size is rendered in black satin with ornately arranged multi-tonal metal and multicolor Gripoix glass beaded embellishments throughout the exterior. The name 2.55 refers to the bag's original release date of February 1955 and the double chain strap pays homage to the keychains that the caretakers held at the orphanage where Coco herself grew up.
Typically inspired by a new location every year, Lagerfeld's iconic Chanel Pre-Fall collections embody the chosen locale's culture and aesthetic through the emulation of signature colors, materials and motifs.
About Gripoix Glass: First produced by Parisian glass-maker Augustina Gripoix in the late 1800s, the eponymous jewelry style was created by pouring glass into shapes and colors meant to imitate the look of authentic pearls and crystals. Coco Chanel later made this poured glass iconic by replicating Byzantine-style jewelry using the Gripoix glass. Chanel Gripoix jewelry has since become covetable and collectible to followers of the house, as the original vintage pieces become increasingly harder to find.
