“His are the only clothes in which I am myself. He is far more than a couturier, he is a creator of personality,” Hubert de Givenchy’s muse Audrey Hepburn said of the designer.
It’s no secret that Audrey Hepburn is a style icon that has reached even post millennial-famed heights. While Audrey was dressed by many of the greats during her time, if you didn’t know who she was wearing, Givenchy was probably the best guess. Hubert Givenchy met Hepburn when he was asked to costume her in Sabrina. The two fell in love instantly and remained friends until Hepburn’s death in 1993. During the years, Givenchy dressed her in many of her movies including Funny Face, Charade and of course, the iconic, Breakfast At Tiffany’s. Givenchy designed the infamous LBD for the movie, adding the long pipe, elbow high gloves and pearl necklace.
