This vintage Hermès Birkin is crafted from black Ardennes leather and accented with gold-plated hardware. Ardennes is a sturdy calfskin leather with raised visible grain known for its durability against moisture, scratches, and slouching. Includes lock, two keys and clochette.

When Hermes' own Jean-Louis Dumas sat down next to Jane Birkin on a flight, he had no idea he was about to create history. When Jane Birkin discussed her need for a sizeable (yet chic) weekender, Dumas immediately got to work designing the perfect bag for her needs.

In 1984, we were introduced to the Birkin, which would quickly become the most coveted bag in history thanks (in part) to the 48 hours it takes to hand-assemble this exquisite piece, as well as the extensive waitlist you'll need to join to purchase one from stores.
