When Hermès' own Jean-Louis Dumas sat down next to Jane Birkin on a flight, he had no idea he was about to create history. When Jane Birkin discussed her need for a sizeable (yet chic) weekender, Dumas immediately got to work designing the perfect bag for her needs. In 1984, we were introduced to the Birkin, which would quickly become the most coveted bag in history thanks (in part) to the 48 hours it takes to hand-assemble this exquisite piece, as well as the extensive wait list you'll need to join to purchase one from stores. This authentic pre-owned Birkin 45, also known as the "Shoulder" Birkin, is crafted from Black Fjord leather and accented with gold-plated hardware. Fjord leather is a textured, velvet-soft, matte leather with a highly visible grain made from adult bull leather that is naturally scratch-resistant (even more so than Togo or Clemence) and is even water-resistant. Includes lock, two keys, and a clochette.
