The style piggybacked off of the success of the classic 501’s and marked the shift of blue jeans from strictly workwear to everyday casual wear. This upgraded style featured a slimmer fit and a lower rise that iconic musicians couldn't get enough of. The 505s remained a punk-era favorite all throughout the 70s and were nicknamed “The New York Jean” due to their particular east coast popularity.
