When Hermes' own Jean-Louis Dumas sat down next to Jane Birkin on a flight, he had no idea he was about to create history. When Jane Birkin discussed her need for a sizeable (yet chic) weekender, Dumas immediately got to work designing the perfect bag for her needs. In 1984, we were introduced to the Birkin, which would quickly become the most coveted bag in history, thanks (in part) to the 48 hours it takes to hand-assemble this exquisite piece, as well as the extensive wait list you'll need to join to purchase one from stores. This classic pre-owned authentic Gold Birkin is crafted from Courchevel leather and accented with gold-plated hardware. Courchevel leather is now retired by Hermès, but was the predecessor to Epsom leather. Like Epsom, Courchevel leather has an embossed, even grain and is lightweight and easy to clean. Includes lock, two keys, and a clochette.
