When Hermes' own Jean-Louis Dumas sat down next to Jane Birkin on a flight, he had no idea he was about to create history. When Jane Birkin discussed her need for a sizeable (yet chic) weekender, Dumas immediately got to work designing the perfect bag for her needs, and in 1984 we were introduced to the Birkin, which would quickly become the most coveted bag in history thanks (in part) to the 48 hours it takes to hand-assemble this exquisite piece as well as the extensive waitlist you'll need to join to purchase one from stores. This authentic Gold Birkin 35 is crafted from Evergrain leather and accented with gold-plated hardware. Evergrain leather is the embossed version of the smooth "Evercalf" leather. Includes lock, two keys, and a clochette.
