A satiric ode to the rather indefinable meeting place of art and fashion, the Spring/Summer 2014 collection debut took place in Paris’ Grand Palais with 75 of Karl Lagerfeld’s sketches strewn about the walls. The collection itself–which was rife with raw tweeds, a tasteful sprinkling of vivid hues and oversized pearls–was inspired by the designer’s disinterest in the overdone ‘what makes art art?’ debate. As models waltzed down the runways, beautified with helmet wigs and grunge-y eyeliner, themes of raw finishes and technicolor palettes (without reaching too far beyond house codes) became more and more noticeable. This Boy Bag silhouette fit right in. It was crafted in France from black leather with multicolor vinyl and intentionally frayed ribbons woven together on top. In true Boy Bag fashion, it also features a gunmetal-tone push lock and chain-link strap. As for its rather inconspicuous runway debut, the bag was strutted down the runway with a navy tweed vest buttoned atop the same vinyl construction.
About the Boy Bag: Introduced in 2011, and designed by the late and great Karl Lagerfeld, the Chanel Boy collection was said to be inspired by Coco Chanel's love of her life, Boy Capel, and his interpretation of her boyish charm. This collection comes in three sizes- small, medium, and large.
