Classic black Birkin rendered in Monsieur leather and accented with gold-plated hardware. This iteration of the Birkin features the 'Sellier' silhouette which was introduced to the Birkin line in 2015 and updated in 2020. Introduced in 2018, Monsieur calfskin is one of Hermès newest leathers. With similarities to Box leather, Monsieur features a smooth grain and a satiny finish that becomes more pronounced with more wear.
About the Birkin: When Hermes' own Jean-Louis Dumas sat down next to Jane Birkin on a flight he had no idea he was about to create history. When Jane Birkin discussed her need for a sizeable (yet chic) weekender, Dumas immediately got to work designing the perfect bag for her needs, and in 1984 we were introduced to the Birkin, which would quickly become the most coveted bag in history thanks (in part) to the 48 hours it takes to hand-assemble this exquisite piece as well as the extensive wait list you'll need to join to purchase one from stores.
